SPOUSE VISA
You need a family visa to live with a family member in the UK for more than 6 months. The UK spouse visa is for married or civil partners of British citizens, indefinite leave to remain, or limited leave to remain visa holders who are residing in the UK under Appendix EU or Appendix ECAA. Initial visa is granted for 33 months and can be extended at the end of that period for 30 months leading to a settlement in 5 years.
Who can apply?
- Your partner needs to be a British or Irish citizen; or
- Your partner must hold indefinite leave to remain, settled status or proof of permanent residence; or
- Your partner needs to be from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein and have pre-settled status – they must have started living in the UK before January 2021; or
- Your partner holds a Turkish businessperson visa or Turkish worker visa; or
- Your partner must have refugee status or humanitarian protection in the UK;
- You and your partner must have met in person and are legally married;
- You need to prove that your relationship is genuine;
- You need to prove that you and your partner have been living together for at least 2 years;
- Proof of English language proficiency of at least CEFR Level A1;
- Your sponsor, who is your partner, needs to prove that they can financially support you without recourse to public funds. They will need to earn at least £18,600 per annum to support you and an additional £3,800 for your first child and £2,400 for any additional child who is not British, settled, or an EEA national; and
- Proof of adequate accommodation for you, your partner, and any dependents you may have in the UK.
FIANCE VISA
You need a family visa to live with a family member in the UK for more than 6 months. The UK fiance visa is for engaged partners of British citizens, indefinite leave to remain or limited leave to remain visa holders who are residing in the UK under Appendix EU or Appendix ECAA. The couple must intend on marrying within 6 months of their arrival to the UK.
Who can apply?
- You and your fiance need to be 18 or over;
- You and your partner must have met in person;
- Your partner needs to be a British or Irish citizen; or
- Your partner must hold indefinite leave to remain, settled status or proof of permanent residence; or
- Your partner needs to be from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein and have pre-settled status – they must have started living in the UK before January 2021; and
- You need to prove that your relationship is genuine;
- Both you and your partner are free to marry;
- You and your partner must intend to marry within 6 months upon your arrival to the UK;
- Your partner must prove that they will be able to support you financially in the UK without recourse to public funds.They will need to earn at least £18,600 per annum to support you and an additional £3,800 for your first child and £2,400 for any additional child who is not British, settled, or an EEA national;
- Proof of adequate accommodation for you, your partner, and any other dependent you may have;
- Proof of English language proficiency of at least CEFR Level A1.
